About Srimad Bhagavatam

Srimad Bhagavatam also known as the Bhagavata PuranaSrimad Bhagavata Mahapurana or simply Bhagavata, is one of Hinduism’s eighteen great Puranas. Composed in Sanskrit and traditionally attributed to Veda Vyasa, it promotes bhakti (devotion) towards Narayana, Lord Vishnu, integrating themes from the Advaita philosophy of Adi Shankara, the Vishishtadvaita philosophy of Ramanujacharya and the Dvaita of Madhvacharya.

The text consists of twelve books (skandhas or cantos) totalling 332 chapters (adhyayas) and 18,000 verses. The 18,000 verses consist of several interconnected, interwoven, and non-linear dialogues, teachings, and explanations on a wide range of topics including cosmology, astronomy, genealogy, geography, legend, music, dance, culture and yoga, especially Bhakti Yoga that go back and forth in time and across its twelve cantos.

The Srimad Bhagavatam is an essential scripture that not only describes the pastimes and activities of Lord Krishna, but also indirectly explains the Vedantic Philosophy in such a way that it is easier to understand for everyone, without any confusion.

The Srimad Bhagavatam is the very essence of all the Vedanta literature. One who has enjoyed the nectar of its rasa never has any desire for anything else — Bhagavata Purana

About Vrindavan :

Vrindavan Dham is a historical city in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located in the Braj Bhoomi region where Lord Krishna spent most of his childhood days. Vrindavan has about 5,500 temples dedicated to the worship of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani.

The ancient Sanskrit name of the city, Vrindavan, comes from its groves of vṛndā (Tulsi) and vana (grove, forest).

The common salutation or greetings used in Braj region by its residents is Radhe Radhe which is associated with the Goddess Radha or Hare Krishna which is associated with Krishna.

The other prominent areas surrounding Vrindavan are Govardhana, Gokul, Nandgaon, Barsana, Mathura and Bhandirvan. Along with Vrindavan, all these places are considered to be the center of Radha Rani and Lord Krishna worship.
